Welcome to the EBV
(Evolutionary and Behavioural ecology of Vertebrates) lab. Our research group
uses an interdisciplinary approach to test hypotheses in evolutionary and
behavioural ecology. Using evolutionary ecology as a conceptual framework,
we use techniques related to ecological genetics and reproductive physiology
to examine questions in two key areas:
(1) the fitness
consequences of phenotypic and genotypic variation, and
(2) the factors influencing gene flow across populations.
We use a variety
of organisms
in our studies, focussing on mammals and other vertebrates. A major project
involves a long-term study of flying
squirrels (research protocol)
in Algonquin Park. The EBV lab maintains collaborative links with researchers
across Canada, in the United States and in Europe.
