The Biology Department is one of six departments in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Laurentian University, a university with a full-time enrolment of around 4,000 students. It is a medium-sized department consisting of twenty-one full-time professors, six technologists, and a number of adjunct professors. Programs are offered in English and French at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Undergraduate students who wish to specialize can choose one of the following program Options: Biomedical, Conservation and Restoration, Terrestrial and Aquatic Ecology, or Zoology. Thus, courses can be chosen which have an environmental emphasis, or which are an excellent preparation for professional schools such as Medicine and Dentistry, and for graduate schools in the various subdivisions of Biology.

Graduate students can select research projects in areas such as Botany, Ecology, Microbiology, Oncology and Zoology, as determined by the expertise of their potential supervisor. For additional information, choose the Graduate Program link in the menu bar.
